Back in Belgium after a different weekend in Italy.
We arrived thursday evening and friday we went training – so far everything was normal. Dinner friday evening and then a nice and long sleep, I felt good and was ready for saturdays racing.
But then everything changed… at breakfast saturday morning Eric and Christel shows up with tears in their eyes. Bad news – we don´t have any bikes, they are all stolen!
Luckily some off the other teams could lend us bikes so we could start, a lot off thanks to all of you special Equipe Nurnberger from where I got a bike ![]()
In the end my whole team could start, everyone on a different bike. Racing totally without pressure, in 5 degrees and rain, having a flat tire and three 5km climbs must have been perfect for me… I finished 9th with a uphill finish! Results here.
Sunday I was too far back in the bunch at the first climb and I had to suffer a lot. So when we came to the last climb up to the finish I was already tired. I havn´t seen any results yet but I think I was somewhere around thirty.
Anyway I´m in good shape and although my bike has been stolen it´s not going to stop me from racing and it´s not going to take away my motivation.
It´s spring time in Belgium and lovelly weather, three hours on my sparebike in the sun is waiting for me… :)
